It is with great pride and pleasure that The Hazelton Hotel has been selected for membership into The Leading Small Hotels of the World Ltd., making it Toronto's first and only hotel to boast membership in this elite organization. Opening July 2007, The Hazelton Hotel, located in the heart of Yorkville will feature design by Yabu Pushelberg, dining by Mark McEwan, and the city's finest state-of-the-art private screening room.
Being recognized by such a prestigious organization is not a simple task. The Leading Hotels of the World recently released their 2007 Annual Directory featuring over 430 members. In 2006, more than 600 hotels applied for membership - ultimately only 42 were accepted. The Hazelton Hotel was one of 24 were accepted in the category of The Leading Small Hotels of the World.

To be considered for inclusion, the establishment must already be in a deluxe or luxury category and it must meet the most exacting standards, including cuisine and facilities. Inspection reports are based on 1,500 separate criteria. Upon this report being filed, the Executive Committee votes of acceptance or rejection of the hotel. Only the world's most distinguished properties are admitted to The Leading Hotels of the World, thereby assuring their highest standards.
The Leading Small Hotels of the World is a brand extension of The Leading Hotels of the World, dedicated to the interests of luxury hotels and resorts with 100 or fewer guest accommodations. Hotels selected for membership include One Aldwych in London, the Lancaster in Paris, Hotel BelAir in Los Angeles and now The Hazelton Hotel in Toronto.
"It's a tremendous honour to have The Hazelton Hotel admitted to this very distinguished group," said Klaus Tenter, Chief Operating Officer of The Hazelton Hotel. "The Hazelton will offer our guests the highest standards of excellence and we're proud to be recognized for this by one of the most prestigious luxury hospitality organizations in the world."
