In 2003,
the Toronto International Festival Group (TIFG) announced
a major initiative to create Festival Centre, a unique, international
destination set to see the world through moving images. The
Festival Centre's new programming activities will include
education, tribute programming, installations, library and
archives and industry programming and services. Festival Centre
will be an essential tourist destination for film lovers from
all over the world, confirming Toronto as the epicenter of
film culture.
The cool sophistication mixed with a hint of Hollywood glamour
provides the perfect setting for a Hollywood premiere.
This year The Hazelton Hotel will be the host hotel for VIP
screenings during the Toronto International Film Festival
in its Silver Screening Room.
Offering 24-hour service, the 25-seat private screening room
will showcase up to seven daily screenings during the 10-day
festival, exclusively to stars and their agents.
"Toronto is home to one of the most prestigious film
festivals in the world," says Klaus Tenter, COO of The
Hazelton Hotel. "We are thrilled to be the first and
only hotel in Toronto to offer its clientele a theatre with
comfort, luxury and equipment on par with the finest facilities
in the world."
The hotel spared no expense when it came to the engineering
and design behind the $2 million facility. Christopher
Hanson of Beverly Hills' Simply Home Entertainment designed
the theatre. The theatre seats 25 and is equipped with state
of the art technology and 16 foot ceilings. The walls are
covered in mohair to provide added insulation and soundproofing.
The theatre is full of the newest technologies from digital
projection to Meyer Sound to a Sunfire Theatre Grand V surround
processor with an 8-channel input for 35mm film system integration.
Adjoining the Silver Screening Room is the Silver Foyer. This
715 square foot area is perfect for hosting a pre-screening
party. With catering available from 'ONE'
at The Hazelton Hotel, the perfect party can be organized
and guests will feel as though they are attending a vintage
Hollywood gala. Ideal for pre-screening cocktails during the
film festival, guests will enjoy the mirrored private lounge
cleverly designed by YabuPushelberg.
Following the Toronto International Film Festival, the private
screening room is ideally outfitted for intimate lectures
and presentations, in addition to private film screenings.
The Hazelton Hotel, is scheduled to open in August 2007.
