Eco-Luxury at The Hazelton Hotel
The Hazelton Hotel believes environmental responsibility is as important as exceeding the expectations of its guests. Its sustainable practices include everything from back of house recycling to energy reducing room management systems and retrofit lighting systems in all guest rooms and public spaces.
A forerunner in eco-friendly travel, The Hazelton boasts one of the first hotel 'Green Roofs' in Toronto. This design element minimizes the building's overall carbon footprint and energy consumption and adds to the aesthetic value of the city’s skyline. High-reflectivity systems on the roof manage storm water more efficiently and facilitate heat retention in the winter and natural air conditioning in the summer. It also reduces levels of carbon dioxide and other harmful environmental emissions, urban heat island effect and local ambient temperatures.
The Hazelton's environmental undertakings extend to the hotel's spa and restaurant,
ONE. The restaurant’s initiatives encompass organic waste diversion and recycling, as well as a commitment to buying organic and local produce whenever possible. The spa carries Valmont, an environmentally conscious skin care line and features a salt-water mosaic lap pool.
The hotel is a member of
The Leading Hotels of the World, the first luxury brand to not only provide consumers the option of having a carbon-neutral travel experience, but also to make the financial contribution on their behalf to offset their energy consumption. This program is in partnership with
Sustainable Travel International (STI), the non-profit leader in sustainable tourism.
